My commitment to you

I will always put the people of Epping first. I was born here and grew up here – it’s my neighbourhood, my community and I want to see it succeed. Across NSW, I will always fight for a better future for the families, workers, small businesses and young people that call our state home.

A great place to raise a family

My wife Helen and I are fortunate to call Sydney’s north west home and share all the area has to offer with our beautiful children Charlotte, Amelia, Annabelle, William, Harriet and Beatrice.
My education was at Redfield College in Dural and Oakhill College in Castle Hill, and then at Sydney University where I studied Commerce/Law.
After working for a number of years as a lawyer at Henry Davis York, I was elected to Parliament in 2011, where I have been honoured to serve since.

Dominic Perrottet biography

The Hon. Dominic Perrottet MP is the Member for Epping in the NSW Parliament.

Dominic served as Premier of New South Wales and Leader of the NSW Liberal Party from 5th October 2021 to 25th March 2023.

Before becoming Premier, Dominic served as Treasurer and Deputy Leader from January 2017, having previously been appointed as Minister for Finance and Services in April 2014, and then Minister for Finance, Services and Property in April 2015.

During his time as Premier and Treasurer, Dominic led NSW successfully through unprecedented challenges, including the COVID pandemic, bushfires and floods.

Fiscal and economic management

Dominic’s previous work as Treasurer reflects his steadfast commitment to responsible financial management which has helped NSW withstand the recent challenges of COVID-19.

In his role as NSW Treasurer, Dominic maintained the Liberals and Nationals strong track record on lowering the tax burden, overseeing a range of tax cuts for individuals and small to medium sized businesses.

A strong advocate for ensuring public assets work harder for the people of NSW, Dominic oversaw the final stages of the NSW Government’s “Rebuilding NSW” asset recycling program. This program generated almost AU$30 billion in proceeds from the lease or sale of legacy government-owned assets for investment into new productive infrastructure across NSW.

Reform initiatives

Dominic is passionate about pursuing positive reform to make NSW the best place to live, work, run a business and raise a family. In his time as Finance Minister he spearheaded the rollout of Service NSW, and led a major overhaul of the NSW workers compensation scheme, establishing a new NSW Government insurer, icare.

As Treasurer, Dominic pursued a strong reform agenda. In 2018 he instituted NSW’s first ever Productivity Commission, and appointed NSW’s first Chief Economist, while also establishing the NSW Generations Fund, a world first dual purpose sovereign wealth fund to offset future public debt and secure NSW’s financial strength for generations to come.

In the 2019-20 Budget, Dominic announced a new suite of reforms to secure NSW’s economic and financial future, including the development of a long term Economic Blueprint to unlock greater prosperity for NSW (launched in November 2019 by the NSW Chief Economist), and a review of Federal Financial Relations (led by David Thodey AO), to drive a renewed “bottom-up” vision for federation that encourages dynamism and reform, and increases the autonomy and self-reliance of the states.

In December 2019, Dominic also launched “Global NSW” – a new strategy to attract more investment in NSW businesses and improve our export capacity in future growth industries. The strategy will increase the State’s international trade and investment network and provide more targeted strategic support to local industries seeking to expand their export capacity and attract local and foreign investment.

In November 2020 the NSW Government began a consultation process on proposed changes to stamp duty aimed at helping more people achieve the Australian dream of home ownership and at the same time growing the NSW economy: a once-in-a-generation change of giving home buyers the choice to pay either stamp duty and land tax (where applicable) or a new smaller annual property tax. The latest updates are available here.

Supporting middle Australia

One of Dominic’s first priorities as Treasurer was to support the low and middle-income families who are the heart of NSW’s success. He has worked with key Ministers to introduce stamp duty savings for first home buyers, and cost savings for families for children’s sport and creative activities through the Active Kids and Creative Kids programs. In the 2021 Budget the NSW Government announced a new $44 million voucher program which will help children learn how to swim.

Tackling intergenerational challenges

As a father of young children, Dominic recognises the pressing need for governments to actively work to secure the future for the next generation. To help meet the long term budgetary pressures governments will face as NSW’s population ages, in 2018 Dominic established the NSW Generations fund – a world-first sovereign wealth fund designed to offset future public debt.

In June 2021 Dominic launched the latest NSW Intergenerational Report which highlights the challenges and opportunities the people of NSW will face over coming decades.

History, heritage and freedom

Dominic has a passion for preserving the history and heritage of NSW for current and future generations, and he proudly recalls the sacrifice of his great great uncle Private Bernard James Perrottet, who was killed in an attack on the Gallipoli Peninsula in World War I.

Dominic has worked to help erect statues to commemorate the inspirational legacy of former Premier of NSW and Chief Justice, Sir James Martin, first in Parramatta and then in late 2020 at Martin Place in the CBD.

In 2016, he oversaw the restoration of the historic Lysicrates Monument in Sydney’s Botanic Gardens by the  NSW Government’s expert stonemasons unit.

He also launched a major program to secure and enhance the heritage of Sydney’s historic Macquarie Street landmarks – including Hyde Park Barracks, Australia’s first Mint, and Sydney Hospital – as well as around The Rocks and Circular Quay. Funding to begin this work has now been allocated.

In the 2021 Budget Mr Perrottet also announced a Blue Plaque program to highlight heritage assets right across NSW.

Since entering public life, Dominic has been a staunch advocate for preserving the freedoms that underpin the Australian way of life. He has spoken forcefully in Parliament and in the media in defence of freedom of speech, freedom of association and freedom of religion.

Student Leadership Programme

Dominic has run a number of year-long Student Leadership Program for students in their final year of school. The program provides mentoring opportunities with leaders like Mark Donaldson VC, Marie Bashir, Ian Narev and John Borghetti, culminating in a service project to help local indigenous communities in the Northern Territory, as an alternative to Schoolies Week.

A voice for Epping and NSW

My aim is to be the voice for the people of Epping and to build a better NSW for everyone. A voice for families working hard each and every day to provide for their kids. A voice for the values that have made our State and our nation great. A voice for you – in our party and in our Parliament.
